Practicing Metaphors

this highly visual unit primes students for brainstorming or to encourage them to think of ideas they already have in new ways. 

In creative and innovative work we routinely venture into the unknown. In these moments, designers must make big leaps and metaphors help us get there. They enrich our storytelling by allowing us to experience or understand one thing in terms of another. They help us express emerging ideas or offer perspective on complex ideas and challenges.

How long does it take?

30 minutes

When should I use it?

Use this workshop in the define and ideation stages of a design thinking project. A 10 minute stoke and 15 minute ideation activity can easily be added to this module.

Familiarize yourself with the slides and speaker's notes, and read through the overview.
